AZ Date Night Guide

Looking for some new ideas to mix up your gold old, traditional dinner date night?

Now I still recommend the tried and true “First Date Drinks” route in case you need to get out of there quick, and your traditional dinner dates for the next couple as you are getting to know each other— But once you reach that 3-4+, it’s definitely time to mix things up!

Different activities and experiences will also help you to get to know your person better! How does he handle losing a game, how competitive does he get, how quick is he to anger? Basically test his level of toxic masculinity, because unfortunately it’s an all too prevalent and hideous trait in the modern man (insert eyeroll emoji here)… But besides the little red flag game, it’s also just a good, fun time to get up and get a little active and adventurous!

So with that, here is a list of my reccommendations for great date night ideas around AZ based on my own experiences! (:

Puttshack

This place is freaking FUN! Sorry if that offends those who actually enjoy legitimate golf, Top Golf, or CrackerJax Putt Putt— but I don’t. And I won’t go so far as to say I was good, but I certainly wasn’t terrible, lol. And my date had never even held a golf club before and was also able to hold his own, which I honestly think was what made it more fun than frustrating, lol (ptsd from CrackerJax dates tbh).

Anyway, there are additional fun challenges like “Supertubes” and “Hazards,” as well as fun trivia and and themed courses! There are about 4 different courses, each with their own unique setups— some include bowling alleys, beer pong, pool, and air hockey. All so unique and clever! It’s a Smart golf experience as your assigned golf ball tracks your shots and relays your scores on the monitors found around the room!

You are able to drink while you play and they have table stands at each putting course so you never have to juggle your belongings! It takes about 30 minutes, but we took our time and had a blast. After our game, we grabbed a table and shared some apps(:

BATL Axe Throwing

Exactly as it sounds— this date night involves an axe, and throwing… Grab some beers and an axe and start chucking it at the wall, lol. It’s a great time, and surely to ignite some laughter as surely neither of you are axe throwing professionals, but hey I don’t know your life…

Simply Smashing Rage Room

Occasionally described as tiny but mighty, this place was made for a bottled up emotional, people pleaser such as myself. Come here and grab a bat, or a sledgehammer, and just start beating the sh*t out of old TV’s and toilets. Break some beer bottles, smash some plates… Feels good to let a little rage out in a safe and supportive environment that does not require cleanup after the fact, lol.

Century Grand

This place has several themed bar options, and while it is still just a seated bar experience, the themes and attention to detail are fantastic. Service was beyond incredible, and such a fun and interesting approach to your typical drinks-at-the-bar date. Definitely a classy twist and I had a great time(:

Alta Rock Climbing Gym

I have spaghetti arms, so we make sure the date is hooked before he sees me struggle bussing, lifting my full body weight and scaling a rock wall, lol. The arms and legs are fully shaking by the time we belay on down, but a super fun experience nonetheless and a great physical challenge (depending on how challenged you want to be, lol).

Spin Art Nation Phoenix

A paint studio that makes it easy for anyone to create their own personal art. It’s easy, stimulating, and lots of fun! Each spin art session is designed for up to two participants where you’ll be making your artwork together and taking turns. They have options in cycling spin art, standing spin art, and a splatter room! They do currently sell soft drinks and snacks but are working on getting their alcohol license.

D-Bat Batting Cages

We have all seen the cheesey rom-coms. Need I say more…

Bowling at Bowlero

Another one that probably does not require much explaining— get your drinks and snacks and toss a ball down an alley at some pins.

Dave & Buster’s Arcade

There are a few options out there, and if you are specifically wanting to do an arcade, then I recommend searching for some in the area! I mention Dave & Buster’s because I have personally been many times and I always have such a blast. They also have a bowling alley and food and drinks offeres throughout the facility!

Horseback Riding

I have done this so many times now— it’s a great activity to take your date, friends, and out-of-state visitors out in the AZ desert without having to hike in it. Ew. Anyway, I like it also because it’s right by where I live, and nothing is by where I live. So I tend to be more biased towards certain activities than others based purely on how far my drive is, lol. Don’t worry about having never done anything like it before— the horses are well trained, and your guide will be with you the whole trail!

Sporting Event

Need I say more? Check out your local sports team game schedules— baseball, basketball, hockey, etc. etc.

As You Wish Pottery Painting

Alright, here we are getting into some territory that for some reason men feel insecure and easily emmascualted by… I always enjoy my time here as you grab your pottery, your paints, and a table and just take your time painting and talking. Fun and different way to get to know your date(:

TuTu Together Tufting & Crafts

Similar to the above creative activity, this is a crafts place primarily focused on rug making, where you can choose your own design and yarns and tuft your very own rug! Additionally they have other crafts like pouring art and decoden!

Musuem of Illusions

Alright so I actually did this one in NYC and with my sister, lol. But we had honestly such a blast!! It’s a fun, trippy, instagrammable experience where we got some great photos and laughs in!

BL Lagoon Day Spa

Get yourselves a day pass for the perfect combination of Halotherapy and Hydrotherapy. Indulge in the Scandinavian bath, Ice bath, steam sauna, dry sauna, and meditation room in the all inclusive Lagoon!

Fountain Hills Park

Lat but not least, this park makes me feel things. I have been coming here since I was a kid and have yet to have a boy bring me on a cute picnic lol. But I have been many times beofre with friends and family. Park yourself under a tree with a blanket, picnic, wine, and maybe some crafting supplies or a good book. Maybe bring a speaker and play some music while tossing a frisbee, or taking a little cat nap. The fountain goes off every hour on the hour, and is one of the the world’s highest fountains!
